SO you know, generally things here are pretty surreal. I will get to my comments on guilliani and obama shortly.

First I would like to point out a headline on the cable news here is about Ricky Martin giving the finger as he performed a song about president Bush "as long as I have a voice I will continue to speak against the war", also the expression "Reality Television Star" seems very odd. I also heard "Famous for being Famous" about Anna Nicole Smith-- which is what is the only thing on the news these days...

Anyway, Obama. In a Harpers article on the guy it has some quotation about how if you live in a world of two foot high midgets, the second someone who is 2 foot Four Inches comes around they seem like a giant. I generally am not excited about the guy because he is beholden to the interests of the corn farmers, he consistently is in support of high tarrifs on sugar ethanol from brazil, he says because the United States needs to not be beholden to foreign sources of fuel, but when you look at it, because he is from Illinois where there is a lot of corn interests (not small farmers). So, basically, he is not the out of the box politician he makes himself out to be.

That being said, I will vote for him any chance I get:

1. The symbolism of having a "Mixed Race" (I do oppose the term but cant think of how else to say it) son of an immigrant as president would be pretty awesome

2. I think in terms of his charisma and also level headedness (be it a politicians level headedness) he could do a lot to heal the animosity in this country that exists across political divisions.

3. I think he could also do a lot to repair the international reputation of the US.

--basically Im disillusioned with Politics. Im in support of democracy, but I think it needs to operate outside of the republic. We can talk about that once i figure out how to post on this thing.

Guilliani is a facist and has on more than one occassion discussed his belief that bush was put in power by god, so probably even more of a fundamentalist than Bush. I say Facist, because his way of reducing crime in NY dealt with an increase in the police force and higher incarceration rates. Basically he jailed a high percentage of the poorer neighbourhoods. He also was big into censorship, trying to get that piss christ dude's stuff, as well as the dissected animal guy's things thrown out of state museums. He also made dancing in bars illegal. (GO to NY you will see "No Dancing" signs all over the place.

That enough? How do I post. I want to talk about democratic action outside of government...
